Microblading or brow embroidery /feathering is a semi-permanent cosmetic tattoo that uses eyebrow pigment ink, implanted under the 1st Dermal layer of skin, cut with a disposable hand held blade.  Your eyebrows are stylized and feathered with hair like strokes to mimic natural brow hair that looks dimensional.  Individual shape and density is determined during the consultation and measured to be symmetrical for each client’s face shape. Before | After Care

  • Before Care for Microblading Procedure

Things to know for BEFORE your Microblading appointment:

    • No major beauty treatments for Fourteen (14) days before your consult date. No chemical peels 60 days prior and must wait 60 days after procedure.
    • Botox treatments should be performed 3 weeks prior to appointment or 3 weeks after procedure.
    • Retinols/Retina-A’s, and other anti-aging creams or serums containing acids will fade your permanent makeup prematurely if used before and after healed procedure.
    • Avoid alcohol or caffeine the day before & prior to the procedure, this will minimize any oozing/bleeding or swelling after the procedure.
    • You have to be off Accutane for 1 year
    • Stay out of the sun for 2 weeks prior to and 2 weeks after your procedure. Plan accordingly.
    • Do not work out the day of the procedure as the body heat expands the pores. It is recommended not to heavily sweat for the first 10-14 days after the procedure. Sweat is salt and is a cause for premature fading, blur or cause the pigment not to take at all.
    • Think about what shape you would like prior; pictures can be referenced, but it is important to note eyebrows are very individual to your face, and we will work together to shape them perfectly for YOU. When we mention shape, we will discuss the shape to the front of the brow (the head), the arch style you would prefer, and we will recommend tail length and height. Although we guide you professionally, these are your brows, and it’s your face. The final decision remains yours.
    • You are welcome to attend with your brows filled in with your preferred shape; this does assist the technician in knowing your preferences visually
    • Allow adequate time (~3 hours) for your appointment
    • Be prepared that your brows and brow area may be white/red, swollen and raised, and darker initially for up to 3 days; color will significantly fade within 7-10 days after your initial appointment. The “magic “of the brow really coming together will happen at your follow up appointment
    • Fading after the initial 7-10 days can almost create slight disappointment for a client; know that this is normal, and the brow is not complete until your follow up appointment is done. Third touch ups may be required, depending on the client; this is assessed on an individual basis
    • You will need to return for your touch up treatment no later than 4-6 weeks after the first treatment.
    • If you bleach your eyebrows, it is recommended not to have this procedure done.  The chemicals will bleach the hair & the pigment as well.
    • Smoking will cause the pigment to fade prematurely and anesthetics will not last as long.
    • Micro blading will not be performed on pregnant women. If you are nursing you may get the procedure but anesthesia cannot be applied to the skin.
    • Getting a procedure while on your menstrual cycle can make you hypersensitive at the procedure site.
    • You are not a good candidate if you have very LARGE pores or Severely Oily Skin.  Your results will appear softer/solid or powdered looking.
    • Do not take Aspirin, Fish Oil, Niacin, Vitamin E and/or Ibuprofen unless medically necessary, 48-72 hrs. Prior to your procedure.  Tylenol is fine.
    • NOTE: If you are required to be on antibiotics prior to the procedure please bring a doctors note
    • Do not wax, thread or tweeze your brows prior to your procedure.  The hairier it is the better!  During your appointment I will be cleaning up your brows and shaping them.
    • This is an enhancement and will never be a permanent solution.
    • Laser hair removal of the eyebrows will cause more scar tissue.   This can cause the pigment to fade prematurely or look blurry.   There is also a chance that the pigment won’t take at all.
    • Client’s results will vary and using a pencil or powder may still be needed.  We have no control over your bodies healing process and each time a procedure is done, the pigment will have less retention due to scar tissue.
    • Remember, no two sides of the face are the same.  Perfection is our goal but brows are sisters, not twins.
    • Hair strokes WILL appear crisp, darker and bold at first, but will soften up in appearance as the tissue heals. The area will shed taking some color with it this is normal. The area will begin to oxidize and darken over the 1st month.  Its important to start with a slightly darker color as it will fade after it heals.
    • Everyone’s skin heals differently and most clients develop patchy areas or the appearance of fading after the first treatment.  It is important to understand that this is a two-part process and the second touch up treatment will complete the procedure and, after healing, you will see the finished result.
    • You will be given a guidance on how to care for your brows during the initial10 day healing period, this includes:
    • *No Sun Beds
    • *No Sweating in the gym
    • *No Sauna
    • *No Makeup on the brow area
    • *No Anti Aging creams on the brow area.
    • *Do not pick scabs if any appear.
    • *Do not itch the brow area or pull the scabs away.
    • *Leave brow area alone and let them heal totally for at least 10 days.
    • *Avoid getting eyebrows soaked in water. Gently pat with distilled water when cleansing & pat dry as well, once a day.
  • 10 Day After Care

    • Entire healing process will take 4-6 weeks depending on your age, lifestyle, and immune system. Because of skin regeneration, after recovery period brows might appear lighter than original.  Even with proper care, clients can develop bald spots or loose original hair stroke, which makes them look uneven.  This is normal because of your own skin regeneration cycle is not a process that your technician can control.  Touch ups after 1 month are crucial to assure brows are even and desired effect was achieved.
    • Absolutely no makeup is to be placed directly onto the brow for a minimum of Ten (10) days post the procedure
    • Keep the area clean at all times. Warm water rinse is suggested each day to cleanse the area; no harsh cleaners or cloths are recommended for use. Pat dry with lint free cloth.
    • Wash your hands before doing any aftercare.
    • May use Vaseline or any of the following oils: Grape seed oil, coconut oil, jojoba for 10 days post treatment.  It will keep area moisturized and soft during your recovery time. It is recommended a thin layer of this be applied a minimum of Three (3) times per day, until the brows have fully healed. You can apply as often as necessary (this strongly aids the area not to itch or flake)
    • Do not touch the brows as much as possible; this can encourage longer healing times and can disturb the pigment. The area may appear uneven, dry, itchy, tender, red & irritated. This is all 100% normal.  DO NOT PICK.   These symptoms will dissipate each day and vary on an individual basis.
    • Scabs and discoloration are normal. Do not touch, itch, or pull at the scabs; this will pull the pigment from the skin
    • Touches up appointments are mandatory to complete your brow. The better your initial after care, the better the final brow will come together for you!
    • No chemical peels 60 days prior and must wait 60 days after
    • Retinols/Retina-A’s, and other anti-aging creams or serums containing acids will fade your permanent makeup prematurely if used before and after healed procedure.
    • Color WILL fade/soften anywhere from 40% to 60%.  At the touch up we will fine-tune any area that has faded too much, color correction, and shape.
    • Healing is specific to each client.  It is important to realize that you will need a color boost every 1-2 yrs. to maintain it’s fresh natural appearance.  Fading will happen after each procedure.  We do not have control over your bodies healing process.  You may need to powder and/or pencil even after the healed results.  This is an enhancement to your natural brows not a permanent one.
    • After the 4-6 week healing period, if they fade more than you like, it is ok to pencil or powder until your scheduled apt
    • Try to avoid having hair in your brows, move fringe off of your face.
  • What contributes towards scabbing of your permanent make up?

    • Incorrect aftercare procedures
    • Blood, pigment and plasma (lymphatic liquid) drying on the area
    • If an infection has developed
    • Excessive application of your after care cream or ointment
